Film and Publication Board briefs media on evolution of content creation and regulation, 17 Sept
FPB’s Enforcement Committee has issued fines of over R16 Million on non – compliant distributors
The Enforcement Committee of the Film and Publication Board (FPB) imposed heavy fines on noncompliant distributors of films and games in South Africa. The total number of fines issued was R16 175 000, the fines range from R150 000 for distribution of films/games in the Republic without being registered as distributors, R750 000 for distribution of unclassified adult films and distribution of such films without a licence to conduct the business of adult premises.
The FPB will also be hosting a 30 years industry engagement session as part of the build up activities leading to the 30 years anniversary. The session will provide a platform for key industry stakeholders to reflect on the evolution of content over the past 30 years. The sessions also aims to identify current and emerging regulatory challenges in preparation for the next phase of content regulation.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the FPB, Advocate Makhosazana Lindhorst, invites members of the media to join the media briefing where they will be taken through the evolution of content creation and regulation.
